Field Stub is a privacy-first logbook for solo IT contractors and MSP techs. Track clients, sites, assets, visits, parts, and photos — all on your iPhone, with voice notes on Pro. No accounts, no servers, no subscriptions.
Most field-service software is built for dispatchers — the people sitting in an office assigning jobs to technicians. That's not who Field Stub is for.
Field Stub is for the technician on the road. The solo IT contractor running their own MSP. The break-fix tech driving between sites with a trunk full of gear. The sysadmin moonlighting on weekends. The person who needs to walk out of a client site with a clean record of what they did, what they swapped out, how long they were there, and the mileage they logged for the trip.
It works offline because cell service in the back of a server room doesn't. It runs on your phone because your phone is always with you. It stays on your device because your clients' configurations and contacts shouldn't live on someone else's server.
Free for tracking up to 5 clients, with CSV export. Pro unlocks unlimited clients, PDF reports, and voice notes with on-device transcription — for $39.99, once.
Organize your work the way the field actually works. Each client has sites. Each site has assets (servers, switches, NAS units, workstations). Each visit logs what you did to which asset.
Start a visit when you arrive. Log photos, parts, work entries, and voice notes (Pro) as you go. End the visit when you leave — your start and end locations and duration are captured automatically. Enter your mileage yourself; the app shows a straight-line distance between the two points as a reference.
Snap photos of cabling runs, error screens, or before/after states. Log parts you swapped or installed, with quantities and notes. Everything attaches to the visit.
Record voice notes in the field, transcribed on-device using Apple's Speech framework. Audio never leaves your phone — useful when you're describing something a client doesn't want on a third-party server.
Export a professional PDF report for any visit — work performed, parts used, photos, time on site, mileage. Hand it to a client, attach it to an invoice, or keep it for your records.
Set an hourly rate for each client and Field Stub does the math. When you end a visit, its duration is multiplied by that client's rate and added to parts and mileage for a per-visit total. Set the rate before you start the visit — each visit keeps the rate that was in effect when you logged it, so changing a client's rate later never rewrites old numbers.
Export your visits to CSV across any date range — free for all users. Drop them into your invoicing system, accounting software, or a spreadsheet for tax season.
Each visit captures a location fix when you start and one when you end — proof you were on site, not a record of your route. Mileage is yours to enter: a straight-line distance between the two fixes sits next to the field as a reference, but the app never fills the number in for you. Map preview embedded in your PDF reports.
All data is stored locally on your iPhone using SwiftData. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no servers. Your client list, visit history, and photos never leave your phone.
If you're a contractor working with small businesses, medical practices, law firms, or anyone with sensitive data, you've probably been asked: "where does this app store our information?" Field Stub's answer is simple: on your phone, and nowhere else.
No accounts. No analytics SDKs. No crash reporters. No third-party trackers. Voice transcription runs on-device using Apple's Speech framework — audio is never uploaded to Apple's servers or any other server. Payment is handled by Apple — Field Stub never sees your card details.
Restore Purchase brings your Pro entitlement to any device signed into your Apple ID.
Because it's a professional tool, priced like one. A paper logbook costs $20, lasts a year, and can't generate a PDF. Field Stub is a one-time $39.99 — no annual renewal, no per-seat fees, no "Pro tier" creep. Pay once, own it.
Not in v1. Field Stub is single-device, on-device storage today. iCloud sync is planned for a future update. It isn't built yet, so we're not promising how existing data will carry over until it ships.
Free covers up to 5 clients (active or archived). If you hit the cap, you can either archive a client you no longer service, delete one, or unlock Pro for unlimited. Visits, sites, assets, and other data have no limit on Free.
On your iPhone, using Apple's SwiftData framework. Photos and audio recordings are stored as files in the app's local storage. Nothing is sent to a server — there is no server. If you delete the app, all data is permanently removed.
In v1, don't rely on phone migration for your data — iCloud sync is planned but not shipped. Your Pro entitlement does follow your Apple ID — tap "Restore Purchase" on the new device and Pro features unlock immediately.
Yes. Field Stub uses Apple's Speech framework with on-device recognition strictly enforced — the request will fail rather than fall back to network recognition. If your device or language doesn't support on-device transcription, the app records the audio without transcription.
Yes, two ways. CSV export across any date range is included free — drop your visits straight into invoicing, accounting software, or a spreadsheet at tax time. Per-visit PDF reports, formatted with photos, parts, mileage, and a map preview, are a Pro feature. Both are standard formats any other tool can read.
No. There's nothing to sell. Nothing leaves your device — no client list, no visit data, no analytics. There's no server to leak from because there's no server.
Free for up to 5 clients. Unlock Pro for $39.99 — once, never again. Available now on the App Store.
